The Conference Ethnography and Netnography: research trends brings together researchers in different disciplines who engage in wide forms of ethnographic research. The overall aim is to showcase the richness and diversity of ethnographic methods and to open discussions about the ways in which Ethnography has adapted to the rapid growth of digital technology both as a research method and a product of research. On the one hand, digital technology affords social scientists new means of recording, storing and analysing data. On the other hand, they have been responsible for new venues of research, mostly on the internet in the form of websites, communities, blogs, social networks, etc.

Conference themes are:

  • Ethnography in the digital era;
  • Current ethnographic research;
  • Epistemological, methodological and ethical issues of (n)ethnographic research;
  • Ethnography in Action Research.
