Dear Colleague,
Professor Ellen Annandale (University of York, United Kingdom) has been nominated as National Associations Representative in ESA Nomination Committee for Presidency and Executive Committee.
Next step is to nominate the Nomination Committee for the election of Chairperson of ESA Council of National Associations: 3 members and 1 reserve member. The deadline is December 31st, 2014. Please send me proposals.
Of course previous candidates for ESA Nomination Committee for Presidency and Executive Committee, to say Krzysztof Konecki (Poland), Lena Näre (Westermarck Society), Siniša Zrinščak (Croatia), Paula-Irene Villa (Germany), and Pia Heike Johansen (Denmark), can be confirmed as proposals for these positions too. At moment another received proposal concerns Howard Wollman (United Kingdom).
Best regards.
Roberto Cipriani

GUIDELINES FOR THE COUNCIL OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS (approved in Geneva, September 7th, 2011)

NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS

  1. Before each ESA Congress, the Council of National Associations (CAN) shall elect a Nominating Committee (NC) with three members. A reserve member shall also be elected to fill any casual vacancies. All members must be regular collective members in good standing. NC shall select from among its membership a Chairperson who will be responsible for organising its work.
  2. The NC has the task of drawing up slates of nominations for the Chairperson of the Council of National Associations. Nominations, supported by two individual members in good standing and including evidence of the candidate’s consent, may be submitted to the Nominating Committee by all ESA regular members in good standing. The NC may also actively solicit further candidacies and collectively make their own nominations.
The Nominating Committee should draw up slates selected, at its discretion, from the nominations made and send them to the members of the Council of National Associations, not later than six months prior to the ESA Congress. If the nominations received by this time are insufficient or do not adequately meet the criteria of the Statutes, the deadline may, in consultation with the Chairperson of the Council of National Associations, be extended to allow the search for nominations to continue.
  3. All candidates must be individual members in good standing of the ESA and must still be so at the time when the NC finalises its list.
  4. Nominations may also be made from the floor at all elections, if supported by five members of the Council of National Associations and made with the consent of the candidate.

ELECTIONS OF THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE COUNCIL OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

The members of the Council of National Associations shall elect the Chairperson by secret ballot. In the case of a tie, another vote shall be taken.

Every member may vote for one candidate for Chairperson. Members may also express their candidate preference by writing in the name of another member in good standing. In case of the highest number of votes for the Chairperson being tied equally, there shall be a new vote in order to decide between the candidates.
