5th Annual International ILIS Conference – Epistemic Shifts in the Post-Digital Society. The dilemma of knowledge production between generative models and quantum futures
The VI Annual International Conference, promoted by the International Lab for Innovative Cultural and Social Research (ILIS), will be held under the title “Epistemic Shifts in the Post-Digital Society. The dilemma of knowledge production between generative models and quantum futures” on 14–15 May 2026 in a hybrid format (online and on-site). This edition of the conference will be hosted by the University of Naples Federico II with the University of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) as twin host partner. The conference will explore how, in post-digital societies, generative AI and emerging quantum paradigms are reshaping the conditions under which knowledge is produced, validated and governed. Particular attention will be paid to the role of algorithms, platforms and digital infrastructures as new epistemic actors, and to the ways they transform the relationship between data, theory and method in the social sciences. We invite contributions that critically interrogate these epistemic shifts, develop hybrid and reflexive methodologies, and address the ethical–political implications of delegated cognition and automated inference.
