The Italian Sociological Association shares the petition launched by the Conference of the Italian Universities Rectors (CRUI), asking freedom and the opportunity to come back to his studies for Patrick Zaki, student in the Master in Gender Studies at the University of Bologna, who is in prison since January the 7th 2020, waiting for a process. It expresses the same concern for many other people who are in prison, waiting for a process, while their health is, in this particular contingency, at risk – in contrast with human rights.

It directs this petition to the Egyptian and to the Italian authorities, asking them to guarantee human rights and freedom of thought.
