Description
Margaret Archer died on the 21st of May 2023 in Kenilworth (UK) at the age of eighty. She was the first woman to be elected president of the ISA and she was also a formidable social theorist in her own right. In this special, commemorative session, we will look back at her life and her lifework. We’ll talk (among other things) about her role at the ISA, her contribution to social theory, the importance of critical realism, the development of the morphogenetic perspective, the significance of internal conversations and relational goods, the challenges of artificial intelligence and the possibilities of human flourishing in late modernity.
