Rethinking Youth Transitions: Values, Expectations, and Social Norms Final Conference of the START project (PRIN 2022) 4 November 2026, University of Turin Call for abstracts – Early-Career Researchers Session Abstract submission deadline: 15 May 2026. On the occasion of the final conference of the START – Surfing Transition to Adulthood: Resources and Timing project , we invite PhD students and early-career researchers to submit abstracts for a session dedicated to youth transitions. Contributions must be based on the analysis of the START dataset, a nationally representative survey of approximately 2,500 upper secondary school students and over 800 parents, providing detailed information on values, expectations, social norms, and pathways to adulthood. Selected participants will be granted early access to the data in order to develop and present an original empirical analysis at the conference. We welcome proposals focusing on the early formation of preferences and expectations, with particular attention to the role of cultural values, social inequalities, and local contexts. The session aims to foster scientific exchange and networking among early-career scholars; the most promising contributions will be invited to take part in an edited volume.
