Rethinking Youth Transitions: Values, Expectations, and Social Norms WEBSITE 4 November 2026, 9:30 am–5:30 pm University of Turin, Campus Luigi Einaudi, Sala Lauree Rossa We are pleased to invite scholars, students, practitioners, and anyone interested in youth studies to the final conference of the START (Surfing Transition to Adulthood: Resources and Timing) Project, funded by PRIN 2022.The morning session will feature invited contributions from Arnstein Aassve (Bocconi University) and Elisa Brini (University of Florence), alongside presentations by members of the START project team—Simona Guglielmi (PI, University of Milan), Renzo Carriero (Local Unit coordinator: University of Turin), and Sonia Bertolini (University of Turin)—addressing the theoretical and methodological challenges involved in studying youth transitions and the formation of preferences and expectations among adolescents and emerging adults. The afternoon session will be devoted to contributions using data from the START survey, presented by early-career researchers selected through a call for abstracts. The START survey is a large-scale school-based survey of adolescents and parents across Italy that combines survey data, survey experiments, and contextual indicators.
