Women’s Experiences of Time: Violence and Inequality 

The annual discussion on gender-based violence, which began at the University of Salerno in 2009 under the Chair of Sociological Institutions, will focus in November 2026 on women’s experiences of violence. Building on the work already carried out and the development of a collective approach within the Preventing and Responding to Gender-Based Violence (PaRGeV) laboratory – PaRGeVlab, the conference aims to revisit and explore the analyses and interdisciplinary tradition that have shaped the dialogue among the knowledge, professional practices, and roles of academic and local stakeholders, while promoting the development of new perspectives, coordination, collaboration and initiatives. As in the past, this reflection, invites contributions from a wide range of experiences and traditions, is based on the premise that gender-based violence is a social determinant that affects health and well-being and helps to explain other social phenomena that form part of women’s everyday lives. These include the implications for health and the economic and social costs, factors contributing to absenteeism from work and educational models that construct and replicate patriarchal legacies of the male–female dichotomy. Furthermore, they raise substantial questions about the reality of romantic love, family affection, and relational bonds within kinship and neighbourhood groups…. Deadline: 5 September 2026
